This week's half square triangle challenge ended with me making a full size quilt using the STAR Block and a panel. It always amazes me how many designs can be created using the simple half square triangle. I call the hst the bread and butter of quilting. If you can create hst blocks, you can make a quilt. Not only a quilt - but a beautiful quilt.

And that is why I am having this challenge because I want everyone to be able to make half square triangle blocks. Well and Ashlie suggested it.

Join the hst challenge and you will have the opportunity to win a half square triangle quilt at the end of the 8 week challenge. And even better, you will have made your own hst quilt or project just in time for the giving season.

Here is the video that goes along with this blog post:

Have a great day, eat some chocolate and be kind to everyone. Until next time - bye.

It all begins with an idea. So today I start the blog on my new website where I can share more information about projects on my YouTube channel. But even more fun, I can share classes giving you the opportunity to learn new techniques. Or you can become a member for a nominal fee and have access to unaltered videos where you get a behind the scenes look at how I make my quilts.

I hope that you all are as excited about my website as I am. I can't wait to get started on this new endevor to enhance the video experience with even more information and pictures to help you on your quilting journey.

Here is my week 2 HST Challenge Block surprise. We started HST Challenge Block 2 with taking two 11 1/2" pieces of fabric with right sides together. Mark in the center of the block from side to side a line. Do the same on the opposite edge of the block. The result should be plus sign with the 2 lines crossing in the center of the square.

Sew 1/4" seam on both side of the 2 lines and then all the around the outside of the 2 blocks that are right sides together.

Then you cut on the solid lines with a rotary cutter being careful to keep the pieces in place. There will be 4 squares. Cut from corner to corner of each square.

When you're done you will have 16 3 1/2" hst blocks. At least once you trim them down.

Check out my video to see how it is done.
