QuiltCon Challenge Quilt
Ducklings, Deadlines, and a Delightful Quilt! (Plus, Tracy Gave Me Her Quilt!)
Hello fellow quilters!
I'm so excited to finally share my finished quilt, all thanks to the Duckling quilt block, also known as Block 3, from "The Skill Building Quick and Easy Block Tool." This project has been a whirlwind of fun, challenges, and a whole lot of laughs!
It all started with a friendly challenge from my dear friend Di from Sister Chick's Quilting. She dared Tracy from The Sewing Channel and myself from April's Craft Room to create a quilt using this adorable Duckling block, with a deadline of QuiltCon 2025. Ambitious, right?
I jumped right in, excited to put my skills to the test. I even created a YouTube video showing you exactly how I made the block and started piecing my quilt. You can check it out https://youtu.be/rm6xQ5w9r_M to see my process (and my struggles!).
Now, here's the funny part: Tracy, being the quilting superstar she is, actually finished her quilt! I, on the other hand, got a little sidetracked (life happens!). But we had a blast sharing our progress, cheering each other on, and just enjoying the creative journey.
The best part of this story? When I jokingly told Tracy she should just give me her finished quilt, she actually did! Yes, you read that right. Tracy, in her amazing generosity, gifted me her beautiful Duckling quilt. I was absolutely floored and incredibly grateful.
This is the quilt I made for the QuiltCon Challenge that Di issued.
Isn't it stunning? Tracy's color choices and fabric combinations are just perfect. It's a testament to her talent and dedication.
This whole experience was a wonderful reminder of the quilting community's kindness and support. Even though I didn't meet the deadline, I learned so much, had a ton of fun, and ended up with a gorgeous quilt to cherish.
Here are a few takeaways from my Duckling Block adventure:
Challenges are a great way to push your skills: Even if you don't meet the deadline, you'll learn something new.
The quilting community is incredibly supportive: Don't be afraid to ask for help or share your progress.
Sometimes, the best things come from unexpected places: I never imagined I'd end up with Tracy's finished quilt!
The Skill Building Quick and Easy Block Tool is awesome!: It made learning the Duckling block a breeze.
Thank you, Di, for the fun challenge, and a huge thank you to Tracy for her generosity and friendship. I can’t wait for QuiltCon 2025 and to show off my (Tracy's) amazing Duckling quilt.
